Falla Reef Trips

The legend continues...

The Barefoot Rundown:

The legend continues – Falla Reef Trips

Falla is the beautiful wooden pearl lugger that bristles with decades of history and character. Rescued in 2001, brought back to life after a year and a bit of TLC, this beauty has been given a second chance.

Step away from the crowd… Explore some of the best snorkel and dive locations… Enjoy the small boat tour to The Great Barrier Reef.

Falla Reef Trips visits two reef destinations on the Great Barrier Reef, both the Coral Gardens & the shallow waters of Upolu Cay.

Dive, snorkle and sail on the Great Barrier Reef with Falla.

The time you first step onboard the ship we consider you part of the family, we can teach you how to steer the ship, you can pull sails up with the crew & generally we teach you a little bit about sailing… We consider it to be a privilege to be able to take people from all over the world, many of who have never seen water warmer than ice water & show them the Great Barrier Reef… It allows us to present the Great Barrier Reef in the way that it should be presented, in a very ecologically sound manner to show the proper respect that it deserves, to show what a magic thing it is & we really like that.

That was my personal best reef trip! A funny captain a cool crew, top snorkeling spot! If you looking for a unusual trip with less people then on the other ships! 😉 Perfect tour, nothing more to say! 👍👍👍👍👍

Fabulous! So different from those big boats!

Did scuba and snorkeling on the Falla with Doug as skipper. Am a certified diver and did not know what to expect as this particular boat does not go out as far as the larger boats. The reef was in excellent condition and we saw tons of fish. Doug has been doing it for years and really knows where to go to get the best experience. Highly recommend this trip. My son who is also a scuba instructor in Cairns on an other boat came along and also raved about this trip. Doug takes small groups- we had something like 15 people- and really personalizes the trip. The boat is an antique pearling boat with sails- and he used those as well as the motor. Highlights of the trip were swimming with sharks and turtles.

Amazing Day!!

Falla was exactly the trip to the reef that I was looking for. It was a small tour. I'm a certified diver who hadn't been diving in years. I took their refresher course out at the reef and was able to check off one of my life bucket list items. Between Capt. Doug and their diving instructor, I felt completely comfortable diving despite the time since I had last been. And the added bonus of the Falla being an smaller, sail boat made such a difference. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

This was the exact trip we were hoping for! It felt like a "pirate" ship dream because of the boat itself and the history about the Falla that was shared. Doug knows different places to snorkel/dive and chose great ones for conditions and less crowds. It was the slower route and made it more enjoyable and scenic instead of the "party boat" feels. We were only planning on snorkeling but my husband decided he wanted to do a Scuba dive with the instructor! I am not comfortable in water but the instructor was very helpful and we successfully Scuba dived on the Great Barrier Reef! Thank you for a memorable and magical experience. (If you're reading this Doug, sorry for the "late" review, I still think of this trip!) Doug is a man after his own dreams and I loved supportin him in that venture.
