Now as a local this is where I spend my holidays and my free time, and hence why we also have a business tour visiting the Atherton Tablelands – because we love it so much!!
Tablelands is full of wildlife and nature at it’s best…. Here in the Tablelands we have Tropical Savannah, Wetlands, and red dirt roads.
If you love birds, emus, platypus, butterflies, glow worms, insects, (even bats!) or want the chance to spot tree kangaroos or cassowaries or try milking a cow, horse back riding, whatever it is Tablelands area has some brilliant wildlife spotting specialists or if you know where to go, it is fairly easy enough to do yourself.
Accommodation in the Tablelands area ranges from Outback Cattle Stations, to luxurious romantic escapes (to die for), family friendly clean simple accommodation, camping, glamping on conservation birding grounds, private houses for short term rental, or true Australian style you can stay in the hotel above a pub.
Some people choose the Tablelands for its history, coffee, distilleries, local markets, waterfall stops, lake walks, mountain bike tracks, dirt bike riding (quad), cultural experiences, whilst others like myself want to tick an Outdoor cinema off the bucket list.
There is plenty to do and see up in the Tablelands, if time permits it is definitely worth an overnight stay but it is best to have a plan in place of what you want to see/do, as time goes so fast when you are there.
